MYP Personal Project Documentary

We are proud to present our MYP 5 Personal Project journey to you! Since August, our head of Design, Mr. Quinn, has captured every step of our personal project cycle. In this 10 minute documentary, you will hear from students, teachers and parents and share in the MYP 5 experience at the International School of Hellerup. We congratulate our MYP students who have taken risks and persevered to reach this defining moment. If you are a PYP or MYP student looking forward to completing this project one day, we hope that this inspires you to take risks, lead your own learning and celebrate every step you take towards your goals.

The MYP personal project is an inspiring culminating project where students consolidate their learning gained through the 5-year programme. This long-term project is designed as an independent learning experience of approximately 25 hours outside of the classroom. Students explore a personal interest and set learning goals towards a product that they create. They have complete choice and agency to decide their path and are supported by supervisors throughout their learning journey.

The personal project formally assesses students’ Approaches to Learning (ATL) skills, being self-management, research, communication, critical and creative thinking, and collaboration. The personal project encourages students to practise and strengthen their ATL skills, to connect classroom learning engagements with personal experience, and to develop their own interests for lifelong learning.

Ultimately, the MYP personal project serves as one of the final MYP assessments and is the ideal preparation for the IB Diploma Programme.
