Applying to ISH

Before you can decide to submit an application to ISH, you must decide that ISH is the right fit for your family.  Our website contains lots of information and resources that will help you at this stage of pre-application research. If you do not find answers to your questions on the website, you are always welcome to contact our Admissions Office by calling +45 35 55 50 48 or emailing admissions@ish.dk. 

We encourage families to visit us if possible in order to experience our school first-hand. Virtual tour videos are available as well as our group tours.

Before submitting your application, please make sure to review our Admissions Policy. 

Once you have decided to apply to ISH, please complete an online application and upload the required application materials. The type of  information we will need varies depending on the age of your child. 

Our application process is online through the ISH OpenApply Admissions Portal, please click on the link below to access our online application form.

Apply for Admission 

You will be guided through forms to be completed online and you will also be asked to upload additional scanned document. Please note that applications must be submitted along with a non-refundable application fee of DKK 2.000,-per child.

Upon receiving a complete application for you, your file will be reviewed by an Admissions Committee consisting of our Admissions Officer, the Primary/Middle/High School Principal, the IB Coordinator for PYP/MYP/DP,  the Head of School and other staff members as deemed appropriate.  Each student's application is given careful consideration. In certain cases we may need to contact you for additional information in order to make a decision.  

PYP 4- DP1 applicants will be invited to our school for English and maths test and an interview.  PYP 1-PYP3 applicants may be invited for an interview and a assessment as needed.  

When your admissions decision is available, we will notify you via our Admissions portal OpenApply. There are three main possible outcomes:

• An offer of admission is made: If your application is successful and we have a suitable space, you will be offered a place at the school. 
• Your child is offered a space in the waiting pool: If an applicant is accepted but no space is available in the appropriate class, the applicant will be placed in a waiting pool. When a place becomes available, it will be offered to an appropriate student in the waiting pool.  
• The candidate is not accepted: Sadly, we do sometimes have to deny admission to candidates if the Admissions Committee assesses that ISH would not be the most appropriate school for the student. In such cases, we try our best to assist families in finding a suitable alternative in the Copenhagen area. 

If your child is accepted to ISH, you will be asked to complete and submit  an online enrollment agreement. After completing the online enrollment process and paying a mandatory deposit (see our tuition & fees page for details), enrollment will be complete.

Prior to your child's first day of school, you will receive a link to a welcome page on the school website with a variety of information welcoming you to the school.  

On the first day of school

• All new parents and students will be invited to meet the Admissions Officer in the school reception on the first day of school.
• PYP students will be escorted to meet their new class teacher by the Admissions Officer
• MYP and DP students will be met in the reception by the class advisor.
• If a child starts in the middle of the school year, a 'buddy' will be assigned to help the child navigate the school and schedule.
