Learning Support

At ISH we believe that the role of schools and the purpose of inclusive education is to help students discover their strengths by removing the barriers so they can live up to their full potential. This can only occur when we recognise that all students are different and learn in different ways. The level of support required is based on our assessment and identification practices, as outlined in the school’s Inclusion Policy (available for download here). In some cases, we require additional fees in order to provide the support. The fees have been kept as low as possible. The various levels of support and accompanying fees are described in the form below. 
 

In the below table are the three different levels of support that ultimately provides the best possible learning environment for students at ISH. There may be slight variations between PS, MS and HS in the implementation of Learning Support and these will be discussed with you when relevant.

Overview of Support Levels

Support Level: Inclusive Access Arrangements

This is for students who do not receive direct support by a specialist teacher but qualify for inclusive access arrangements such as access to additional time, access to a scribe or reader, access to assistive software etc. based on the IB Inclusion Policy. 

Role of teacher(s)

To provide the inclusive access arrangements that the student has been granted 

Support Provided

No specialised instruction provided

Parents

To collaborate with teachers and Student Services

Additional fees No additional fees

Support Level: Mild

This is for students who need short-term targeted or in class support. Screenings may take place to identify learning needs. 

Role of teacher(s) To provide lessons that cater for the specific needs of the student
Support Provided

Differentiated instruction in class and possibly out of class

Parents To collaborate with teachers and Student Support Services
Additional fees No additional fees

Support Level: Moderate

Students who have identified learning needs and require more support than what already is being provided by the class teacher, will be asked to pay. Screenings will be administered to help with educational planning. The average cost will be approximately 3000 DKK per month, but this can vary depending on the individual situation.

Role of teacher(s) To provide lessons that cater for the specific needs of the student
Support Provided Targeted intervention. Push-in or pull-out support depending on the situation
Parents To collaborate with teachers and Student Support Services
Additional fees 3000 DKK per month

Support Level: Intensive (available in the Primary School and Middle School only)

In this case, a student needs intensive support and an extra teacher in class or out of class, to ensure access to the curriculum. Screenings will be administered to help with educational planning.

Additional fees Amount is dependent on the level of additional resources required
